What Reiki IS
Reiki is an energetic technique founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan for reducing stress, increasing relaxation and promoting healing of the mind-body. It is administered by "hands on" or "hands off" techniques where the practitioner acts as a channel to send the Universal Life Force Energy to the recipient. If you've been feeling sick, run down, low on energy or off balance, that can mean that your life force energy is low, but can be replenished through Reiki Healing.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy."
During a session, the recipient may feel a warm glow emanating from their body. Most report feeling a deep sense of calm, almost like they're floating. Reiki energy moves through the recipient to balance their emotions and remove any energetic blockages they've been experiencing, leaving the client feeling as though a literal weight has been lifted.
Reiki is a natural, safe, non-invasive spiritual healing modality that can work wonders to alleviate all of life's stressors.
What Reiki ISN'T
Reiki is not a replacement for modern medicine. Although reiki can work wonders when used alongside your doctor's wellness plan for you, reiki should not be relied upon solely or used in lieu of modern medicine.
Reiki is not a massage. Reiki practitioners do not use any form of tissue manipulation while performing Reiki unless they are licensed massage therapists and choose to utilize both healing modalities in their practice.
Reiki practitioners are not therapists, unless they are licensed therapists and choose to utilize both healing modalities in their practice.
Reiki is not a religion. It follows no specific deities or religious practices and is accessible for people of all faiths.
